From Experience to Purpose. From Purpose to Action.
TLH Nonprofit was born from one man's journey of resilience, determination, and belief in second chances. Troy Leon Harrigan refused to allow his past to define his future. Instead, he turned his life experiences into a powerful vision: to create opportunities, restore hope, and help others overcome the barriers standing between them and a brighter future. Today, his vision lives on through TLH Nonprofit, where we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to rewrite their story.
A Personal Reckoning
Troy Leon Harrigan experienced the reentry process firsthand and found a system that was not built for success. Housing denials, employment barriers, and a lack of coordinated support made reintegration feel impossible. That experience became the seed of something new.
Building What Was Missing
Troy began connecting with others who shared his experience and his frustration. Together, they mapped the gaps the moments where the system failed people most and started designing solutions grounded in lived experience and community trust.
TLH Nonprofit Is Born
TLH Nonprofit was formally established as a Massachusetts 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. From day one, the mission was clear: provide the compassionate, comprehensive reentry support that Troy had needed and never found.
Expanding Our Reach
Programs expanded to include housing assistance, employment readiness, legal aid navigation, and peer mentorship. Partnerships with community organizations, employers, and government agencies grew the network of support available to every participant.
We Continue to make Impact
TLH Nonprofit now serves 21 individuals across Massachusetts each year. The work continues because the need continues and every person who walks through our doors reminds us why we started.
Lived Experience Is a Qualification.
At TLH, we reject the idea that people with criminal records are liabilities. We believe that those who have navigated the system survived it, learned from it, and come out the other side carry knowledge and empathy that no degree can teach. That is why our team, our mentors, and our leadership include people who have walked this path.
The most powerful thing you can say to someone who is struggling is: I've been there. I made it. And I'm going to help you do the same.- TLH Nonprofit Org.
